Personal and Professional Background

  • Heidi Olszewski, MSSA, LCSW, has been married to her husband for 13 years. She and her family are originally from Ohio, but now reside in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Heidi enjoys spending time with her husband, playing with her two boys, listening to music, and taking walks with friends. In terms of church life, she is thankful to belong to a Bible-based church and serve there with her husband.  Heidi co-leads a women's Bible study and is a children's ministry leader in Awana. As a member of her church worship team she helps lead through singing.

  • Heidi earned her Master of Social Science Administration from Case Western Reserve University (2002), and her Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Xavier University (2001). Additional information: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (Indiana); Licensed Independent Social Worker with Supervision Status (Ohio); Adoption Certificate through Rutger's University; Evaluator in the Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale (ADOS) (trained at the University of Michigan).

  • Heidi Olszewski's professional counseling background includes: hospital, community mental health, providing teaching and clinical supervision to graduate students, medical residents and other health care professionals. Her counseling experience includes: marriage and family therapy; mental health counseling for children, adolescents, families, and groups; geriatric counseling; emergency/crisis intervention; and workplace mediation/staff development with hospital teams and individuals.

  • Special counseling interests are in the areas of marriage and family counseling, parent-child relationships, adoption/attachment (i.e. domestic and foreign adoptions, open and closed adoptions, kinship adoptions), spiritual growth, pastoral/ ministry families, managing mental health needs/emotional wellness (i.e. depression, anxiety, ADHD in children and adults, emotions management, school and/or work performance/ anxiety/socialization), treating Asperger syndrome, marriage enhancement, strengthening female identity, body image/weight, military families, and child chronic medical needs (including, but not limited to seizure disorders).
